Level 1 Service (Playing Condition)

Clean instrument without dismantling it
Chemical clean and silver wash bocal
Check boot end plate/U tube gasket and remove, clean, replace and reseal if necessary
Replace up to 2 missing, loose or damaged pads (cleaning the remaining pads)
Replace up to 2 missing or worn key corks
Check and tighten loose hinge rods and pivot screws
Check and adjust spring tension
Regulate keys
Adjust key heights
Check tenons and sockets for proper fit
Lubricate keys
Assemble and play test instrument
Clean instrument case

Dismantle instrument
Chemical clean and silver wash bocal
Remove, clean, replace and reseal U tube, replacing the boot end plate/U tube gasket if necessary
Check tenon binding threads and replace if loose or worn
Detergent wash body (plastic instrument); brush clean body (wooden instrument)
Buff keys, body bands, and boot cap
Level and reface any damaged tone hole
Clean, straighten and tighten hinge rods and pivot screws
Replace up to 4 missing, loose, or damaged pads (cleaning the remaining pads)
Replace up to 4 missing or worn key corks
Check and adjust spring tension
Regulate keys
Adjust key heights
Lubricate keys
Assemble and play test instrument
Clean instrument case

Level 3 Service (Re-pad)

Dismantle instrument
Chemical clean and silver wash bocal
Replace end tube/U tube gasket
Replace tenon binding threads
Detergent wash body (plastic instrument); brush clean body (wooden instrument)
Buff keys, body bands, and boot cap
Level and reface any damaged tone hole and treat the tone hole with “Tru-Oil” gunstock oil
Clean, straighten and tighten hinge rods and pivot screws
Steps to eliminate end and side play in keys
Replace all pads
Replace all key corks
Check and adjust spring tension, replacing any weak or loose springs
Regulate keys
Adjust key heights
Lubricate keys
Assemble and play test instrument
Clean instrument case

Level 4 Service (Complete Overhaul)

All of the work detailed in Level 3 Service (Re-pad) as well as:
With plastic instruments:
– Remove all scratches and other surface blemishes
– Buff treated areas
With wooden instruments:
– Remove all old varnish
– Remove all scratches, dents, bruises, and other surface blemishes
– Treat tone holes with “Tru-Oil” gunstock finish
– Apply varnish to body parts
With both instruments, re-plate body bands, boot cap, and keys

Price determined after inspecting, assessing the instrument and ascertaining price of re-plating.
